The 2020 swisspeace summer school provides an overview of current academic and policy debates on conflict resolution, dialogue and peacebuilding and critically reflects on their relevance for the Ukraine context.

forum Ziviler Friedensdienst (forumZFD) is recruiting a Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (PM&E) Officer (m/f/d) in Odesa, Ukraine starting on October 15, 2019. Currently, forumZFD in Ukraine operates through its offices in Kyiv and Odesa and works with Ukrainian partners in the fields of civil conflict transformation and peace building.

Practice Peace is a two-stage training course on discrimination, conflict management and peace with participants from Germany, Greece, Kosovo, Macedonia, Poland and Serbia. In the first stage, the participants take part in a simulation game and immerse themselves in a scenario from the Northern Ireland Conflict taking the role of real-life figures. Together they acquire a deeper understanding of social, religious and political discrimination and develop strategies how to counter discrimination effectively. In the second stage, they develop a tool box with anti-discrimination methods that the participants implement in their respective home countries.
The Practitioner Trainings held at KURVE Wustrow are open for application. The trainings are particularly intended for partners from the global south, peace activists, civil peace workers and professionals working in development cooperation.

Trainings and seminars in peacebuilding, conflict transformation and conflict management by international and local experts are a central component of Capacity Development of civil society actors in crisis regions. Often international experts support national partner organisations in the implementation of educational offers. They conceptualise educational offers or comprehensive educational programmes, they plan and organize educational measures and implement them.
Working in highly dynamic and volatile contexts poses a number of specific challenges for development, humanitarian and peacebuilding organizations as well as for business actors. Over the past years, normative frameworks for working in fragile and conflict-affected contexts have been developed: The OECD/DAC’s 10 principles for good international engagement in fragile states and situations constitute a widely accepted point of reference.
