International Academic Conference in Davao City, the Philippines

This two-day research conference will generate academic insights on practicing journalism and communication in a conflict setting, increasing the professionalization of journalism in general, and contributing to peace building in conflict areas such as Mindanao. The conference will delve into three research themes: 1. Power of the media: agenda-setting and effects, 2. Theory meets reality: Industry practices and emerging trends, 3. Journalism, culture and conflict: Focus on the Philippines.

Civil society organizations, peace process stakeholders, political leaders, members of the donor community, and journalists attended the event at Melia Hotel.

We are pleased to announce the winners of the 25th annual Dart Awards for Excellence in Coverage of Trauma: Michigan Radio and NOLA.com | The Times Picayune. Honorable Mentions went to Radio Canada International – Eye on the Arctic and to The Star Tribune of Minneapolis.
The annual Dart Awards recognize outstanding reporting in all media that portrays traumatic events with accuracy, insight and sensitivity while illuminating the effects of violence and tragedy on victims’ lives.

EPLO published a series of peace stories of their member organisations

On the occasion of the 37th International Day of Peace on Friday 21 September, the European Peacebuilding Liaison Office EPLO published a series of peace stories by their member organisations about their peacebuilding activities in countries such as Somalia, Columbia or Libanon.

They also released a set of videos of the directors of three of their member organisations talking about their involvement in peacebuilding.
