Pakistan's Media Landscape: The Effects of Liberalization

 Events

Deutsche Welle Media Dialogue in Bonn

The liberalization of Pakistan’s media sector in 2002 has led to the sector’s rapid development but has also resulted in numerous challenges for journalists, including freedom of speech vs. self-censorship and media liberalization vs. partial radicalization. Pakistan has also been repeatedly recognized as one of the most dangerous countries for journalists. After more than a decade of media liberalization, this symposium will assess its impact.

Do No Harm and Reflecting on Peace Practices

 Events

Steps for Peace training in Berlin

The Do No Harm criteria, developed by Mary B. Anderson, have proved to be successful for peace- and conflict-sensitive humanitarian aid project work, and also in development cooperation in a conflict context. In a complementary process around Reflecting on Peace Practice, analytical instruments were created that enable an efficient assessment of international peace-related projects.

Organisation development and change management in crisis regions

 Events

Steps for Peace Training in Berlin

Socio-political change processes in crisis regions place high demands on both international and local actors. Partner organisations and projects generally need to establish and manage the infrastructure to develop effective change impulses. For this, all civil actors need to have basic organisation management skills in their repertoire. Experience has shown that knowledge of theory and methods of systemic and holistic organisation development and in particular change management provide an excellent foundation.
