Abstract

The impact of hundreds of thousands of Rohingya refugees has been devastating to the forest cover and water availability in Cox’s Bazar, fuelling clashes with the local population. Bangladesh now hosts nearly 1 million Rohingya refugees in the biggest refugee camp in the world. Depleting natural resources are driving locals to seek conflict with this highly vulnerable population, leading to a crisis within a crisis.
