"Unpacking the Mystery of Mediation in African Peace Processes" is a collection of 11 cases of mediation processes in Africa with diverse conflicts, parties and mediators. Among others, the following cases are being presented: Kofi Annan's mediation endeavours to resolve the recent crisis in Kenya (2008); the peace talks in Juba between the Ugandan government and the Lord's Resistance Army (2008); the negotiations of Ouagadougou, from which an agreement between the main warring parties in Ivory Coast resulted (2007); and the long process which led towards the comprehensive peace agreement between northern and southern Sudan (2005).
