bis 13.10.2010 18:00 Uhr ReferentInnen: Ruth Mischnick
The 20th century was marked by very high number of harsh conflicts reaching its peak in two World Wars and one Cold War. They did not only claim a lot of human lives and brought about devastating destruction but were of a global impact never known before. Under this impression and trying to limit or at least frame the violence, killing and destruction people increasingly tried to institutionalise the dealing with conflicts in other but military ways. The United Nations, the EU or the OSCE can be counted among this attempts. At the same time civil society has started to engage more and more in further developing approaches of dealing with conflicts non-violently. A decidedly non-violent civil aspect began to establish itself alongside previously primarily military and political interventions. The training offers an overview of global current conflict constellations, approaches to deal with it, the issue of non-violent conflict resolution, its historical and political context, the practical implementation and the current state of debate.
